Hi there I'm looking to find the best sources for help with Rational Robot.
I've just been asked to look after script testing new releases of my companies software. However I've only had 2 days of training with an IBM Rational Trainer and can just about scrape by. However I'd like to get to grips with this more as it won't be too long before I'm asked to write more complicated test programs.
Please let me know what's your bible?
What digs you out of most holes, what sites are simple for beginners?
I've looked around and can't find a great deal of help.
The IBM website really annoy's me as I can never find anything that's useful.
This forum has been of some help but I need more ammo if I'm to battle on.
Looks like they've put you in a difficult situation (to say the least)!
I found I used the Rational Robot users's manual the most when I was just starting out. Now it's mostly my Visual Basic reference for general how to's, and the IBM-Rational Robot and SQA forums for when I get stuck on something.
Best of luck!
The best training you are going to get is getting thrown right into the fire. You are going to be fine. If you need help, come back here, and we will do what we can.
A couple of things to remember:
1. Test automation is a programming task, not a testing task. You are going to spend most of your time reading and writing code. If you aren't good at it, get good at it, quickly. I have never seen a script that did not need modification after recording.
2. You need to be intimately familiar with the SQABasic help file. All of the function definitions are in there. Read them and understand them thoroughly.
