Running Rational Robot on Virtual Machine
We have Rational Robot and TestManager installed on a virtual machine and when we need to write scripts or run them, we would remote desktop to the VM and do it.
While Robot is running, if we minimize the Remote desktop window so that we can work on other things on our local machine, the Robot process on the VM gets "Script Command Failure" with description "There is no currently active windows on the Windows desktop".
If we want to make it run smooth we would need to leave the Remote desktop window fully open on our screen and we can't work on something else. That is, we would need another computer just to run the Robot scripts. Is there a way to run Robot while working on something else?
Re: Running Rational Robot on Virtual Machine
Hi Earth, I have encountered a very similar problem, The workaround we use is:
Instead of logging into the remote Virtual image using Remote desktop, we use the VMware server software and open the remote Server and simply run the automated scripts on the VM images.
This appears to work fine with the exception of Lag in mouse movement, and refresh on the remote VM's
I am also looking for a workaround using remote desktops as they run more efficiently(less lag with mouse movement etc)
