Problem in Moving Rational Project

Dear All,

We are planing to move to a new location wherein i have to move Rational project also.
Procedure that i am following is :

1)Creating a new project at new location.
2)Getting connected with the machine by IP to IP access.
3)In configuring project, i have selected associated test datastore and entered test datastore path of my old project.
**** 4)But on clicking "OK" button an information raised as "The specified Test Datastore is already attached to a project. Please select one that is not attached".

Kindly, suggest me ASAP what should be done to get rid of this problem.

And any better idea for moving project will be appreciated.

Re: Problem in Moving Rational Project

Hello to all

Dear vikas_vyas

In my openion the best and simple solution to ur question is that u can take the complete backup (*.rptr) of ur project on the old machine where the project was created. and then restore this backup(*.rptr) in to another project at other location.

if u want other solution kindly reply so that i can suggest this another solution

...or you can edit the project files and replace any references to the old project location with the new project location.

While I'm sure they don't condone doing it, but it works. You may have to do an advanced search in your project folder of *.* containing the term "<your old project location>" to identify all of the files that need edited. I think there's 6 or 7 of them total in 3 or 4 different subfolders.

Re: Problem in Moving Rational Project

I am facing the same problem while creating the new project from existing datastore.
I deleted the project path from the files "project.dat", and "Datastore.dat", and tried to connect to datastore.
But it still gives error.
Can anybody suggest the solution in details please.

Re: Problem in Moving Rational Project

Hi Anjali,

You don't have to delete any path from anywhere. Only thing that you have to do is to create a new projectwit rational administrator-> create new datastore-assign type of testdatstore -> assign desired path -> then initialize that datastore with the one that you have to move also initialize the path of the TestUsers of the old project then press next and then ok. All your project datastore and testusers will move to new project and you don't have to change any paths.

I hope this is enough to solve your queries.

Regards,
Vikas Vyas
