Re: Robot scripting language

    erhmm..

The functional part of Robot uses SQA basic - a Visual basic 'like' scripting language.

The VU part of Robot uses VuC .. a C 'like' scripting language.

    Re: Robot scripting language

Rational Robot for the VU script uses a 'C' like language/compiler. You will need to be familiar with the constructs of C (syntax, data types, logic flow, looping, functions/subroutines, etc.) to get into developing robust VU scripts. Take a look at the VU Reference for more details (RTFM - Read the Friendly Manual ).

Rational Robot when doing a GUI script for functional testing is using a Visual Basic for Applications derivative (VBA) that Rational calls SQABasic (probably VBA 4 or 5 with their function extensions). If you go out to Google and MSDN and do searches for VBA and VBScript you will find a ton of information the VB lanuage and its constructs (syntax, data types, logic flow, looping, etc.) Also, the SQABasic Language Help file that comes with Robot is very good.

An additional resource to look at is Wilsonmar.com (http://www.wilsonmar.com/1robot.htm) for some additional tips.
