Problem in generating VU scripts
Hi I am a software tester, and our company is in the process of evaluating different performance tools available for performance testing of a web application. For that I installed both rational robot and load runner on my machine.
I was able to record and playback the load runner script but I am unable to generate the VU script in Robot. I am recording a script, but when robot tries to generate the VU script, it gives me the following error.
'No scriptable protocol found. Script generation cannot continue.'
I tried Google to resolve this issue but havenít yet found any satisfactory answer
I have uninstalled both and reinstalled Robot but still having the same problem.
I am unable to understand what the problem is, is there any known conflict between Load runner and Rational Robot.
Do I have to format my hard disk to fix this issue? Please help me.
Re: Problem in generating VU scripts
Robot records in 2 phases :
1. the real recording phase. It picks up any network trafic it sees and puts it in a .wch file
2. the script generation. Robot filters all that traffic, and generates a scripts from it. The filtering depends on what protocols you have told it to pick up (in Tools > Session record Option > Generator Filtering)
Your error can mean 2 things :
- there is no traffic recorded of the protocol type specified in the options.
e.g if you have selected ODBC and your application is a pure HTTP web site.
- the settings are correct but you don't have the appropriate additional license, which is required at the script generation phase. The basic Robot license covers HTTP and sockets. All the other protocols require an additional 'protocol license'
If this is the case, ask IBM for an evaluation license of the correct protocol, or an eval of the 'all protocols' license.
