Now the recorded script doesnot able to recognize the dynamic menu
the script eexcution fails
I am using Rational Robot with IE 6 on windows 2003 server
Am i using the right tool? Should i use RobotJ also called XDE tester
Re: Robot not recognizing Dynamic Menu
It sounds familiar.
Do you mean that you can't get Robot to "hover" over the menu at playback time to get it to appear ?
Here's the solution :
1. You need to use version 2003.06.13 (possibly .12 will work). For older releases in the 2003 family, you can get a patch (need to contact tech support).
2. Start recording
3. When you're recording, get the mouse over menu to appear.
4. Hit [Ctrl]+[Shift]+P
At playback time, this will cause the mouse to move the relevant posistion, and the menu will appear.
If you need to do a VP on the menu, start the VP wizzard with the timer on before step 3.
Note that if you have a version too old of Robot, there are workarounds.
My favorite is to do a drag and drop from some empty part of the page (so that it doesn't really do anything) to the mouse over menu, so that the cursor will be brought to the correct position for the menu to appear at playback time.
Alternatively, XDE Tester has had this functionality built into it right from the first version (RobotJ).
Both tools are "right" for testing JSP.
But if you already have Java skills (being in a JSP team it's likely ;-), then you'll probably like XDE Tester, otherwise stick to Robot (beware also XDE Tester is built on Eclipse on requires a minimum of 1 Gb Ram for comfortable use)
