Robot VU Script - VB, MSSQL Server App
I started my Robot pursuit yesterday. The Application I am working on is built on VB and uses MS SQL Server for the database. (Should I mention versions?).
I would like to create some workflow scenarios using my VU scripts.
Anybody with any input, please let me know.
Some of my questions as a beginner -
1) What kind of recording should I use? API/Network, Why that one? Went thru User Guide abt recordings, I found nothing specific to my App.
2) I tried recording some scripts - It says no configurable protocol found? What would that mean?
3) I would like my script to record to generate database scripts to insert/update records. My thinking is that if I do the operation that inserts a record (in record mode) it generates the statements that will do the same on playback.
Anybody worked on VB-SQL Server Apps before, any suggestions/guidelines, please let me know.
I successfully posted what I understood as vaguely ( as I can. If I see any help, I can explain more on what I am trying to do here.
Thanks in advance,
Leela. (Just another head who's on QAforums whenever there is some new assignment)
Re: Robot VU Script - VB, MSSQL Server App
Started recording my scripts using ODBC, our App was using OLE-DB which is not supported by Robot.
The app I am working on has very wide tables (over 100 columns), so its a real pain to go through all the variables and setup dynamic values to each of them so that multiple users can use them.
Started using datapools;
I feel much better working with it today than the day I first opened Robot.
