My company is looking at purchasing Robot and I am trying to determine if it can do what I need. All of my experience is with Silktest.
With Silk there exists the ability to run a test that uses 2 machines. They do this with an agent executable that runs on a remote machine. The primary machine can connect to the remote machine via the agent at any point within the script to perform any task that can be done on a local machine. Does Robot have a similar functionality? If so, can you provide any feedback on it's usefullness?
Re: test agent?
Yes - Robot have agents as well, avaliable for a few major platforms (Windows, Linux, HP and solaris ..of the top of my head)
I use it everyday, and must say that it has come a long way - it usually works perfectly, but I find that when we run larger tests, you can sometimes loose the data ( meep!) - with larger tests I do mean tests that generate giabytes of data.
Humm, now I came across negatively ... I did not mean to, the Agent in Robot works just fine, both for performance testing and functional testing
