Robot uses its own version of SQABasic. If you know VB, you'll pick it up easily. You will need to contact IBM (they bought Rational) for an evaluation copy. The number is on www.rational.com

You can go to Rational User Group web site, register yourself and you don't get evaluation copy but there are pdf manuals which you can download, but again the pdf manuals are not of currect version.

If you are new to programming, I would recommend picking up a good book on Visual Basic 6 to get the "programming basics", and to get a good foundation in SQABasic, which is the language used in Robot. However, to delve deeper into Robot, the online help in Rational Robot would be a good starting point. You may want to try the SQAGetProperty function for starters.

Robot Product History

The product name Robot was created after Rational purchased SQA TeamTest v6.1. Before that the product was named PLA. This is the reason for references to “SQA” and “PLA” within the product. Thus, Robot scripts are in Rational's SQABasic language, which is based on an early version of Microsoft's Visual Basic language.
Robot 7.1 was released Feburary, 1999.

In small words:

SQA Suite is a collection of following
- Test manager
- Robot
- Test log viewer
- Administrator

Now SQA Suite is renamed as 'Rational Suite Enterprise'

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">That might be taking it a little bit to far - The Rational Suite enterprise contains most of Rational's product - all of them somewhat integrated

Perhaps you meant Teamtest, or even Rational Suite TestStudio
