DataPools vs. Excel spreadsheet
Has anyone noticed any performance problems when using a Datapool setup vs. and Excel spreadsheet to feed a data driven test. Which method is better for data driven test using Robot?
Re: DataPools vs. Excel spreadsheet
In my opinion the most performing is using data stored in a database such as Oracle and SQL Server the difference in performance was notable in our projects.
However, not everyone has this luxury but i can not in good concience promote the use of datapools due to their flakiness. I would suggest that if you wanted to make use of the data creation then yes, but move the data into something else after. I would personally only use excel if i was making use of calculated functions or formatting, and would opt for csv. Secondly i would use ADODB as the method in which to get information out of any medium be it excel, sql server, oracle, or even csv.
There it is, 2 cents worth,
