There is in my opinion a very nice comparison document that i uploaded to
the Rational Users Site some time ago http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ration...iles/Articles/
If you unable to join the group due to company restrictions, it originates
from the Automated Testing forum and can be found on the QAForums
    Downloads http://www.qadownloads.com/White_Papers/
    (Title: Automated Test Tools Comparison).

    It compares:
Rational Robot (as included in Rational TestStudio) 2001
    Rational Visual Test 6.5
    Mercury WinRunner 7
    Segue SilkTest 5.?
Compuware QA Run 4.7.?(as included in QACenter)

Thanks for the note, however, I want to compare Rational LOADTEST to
Mercury LOADRUNNER, not Robot to WinRunner! <smile>

I checked the QAForums Download and there is a paper "Load Test Tools
Evaluation", however, the link does not work! grrrrrrrrrrrr

I have been using LoadTest on several projects and know a lot about it,
so want to find out what LOADRUNNER can do differently, better, etc.

I borrowed a set of LoadRunner books (am trying to get Mercury to send
me a set - they want about $500 !!!) but the books seem to be your basic
"how to use it" and "everything works fine", etc. I can't find the
section "headaches and things that go bump in the night".

My rough estimate costs from talking to sales people:
Rational TeamTest (which includes LoadTest) with 50 VUs is
    approx. $10,000
Mercury LoadRunner (1 controller, 50 VUs, perf monitor) is
    approx. $50,000

Re: comparison of Rational LoadTest to Mecury LoadRunner?

I suggest trying to call a local Mercury Interactive representative and ask him for an evaluation copy of LoadRunner. My experience has been that they like to get into situations where they are evaluated against their competitors' tools.

I'm also guessing that you won't be able to get as much information from a book or white paper as you can from performing your own hands-on evaluation.
