Running Suites in Test Manager - Global Variables not being set
User Alison Brock (firstname.lastname@example.org) posted:
I have a set of scripts which I have built into a suite to run in Test
Manager. The suite consists of 120 scripts. As the test can be run on a
number of test envrionments an input box is used to determine which
envrionment to run on. The reslut of this then sets a number of global
My problem is that if the scripts are run using the suite the global
variables are not being set. If i construct a shell script to run the
tests - using exactly the same tests - all the approprate variables are
being set (I have run in debug mode to check, and also sent Log Messages
with the variable values, just to be sure)
I'm confused as to why this is happening. Anyone with any ideas?
I'm using TestManager and Robot version 2002.05.20
Thanks in advance

Stick with the shell scripts. I can't tell you why the globals aren't being set without more info, and even then, I probably couldn't tell you. Just use the shells.
The suite concept was developed for Performance testing and is amazingly useful there. I keep trying to use it for GUI tests as well, and keep not being real happy with it. Maybe others have a different oppinion, but I'd say stick with what you know in this case.
