Positive , Negative & Boundary Value Testing
Can any one tell me in detail what is Possitive Testing, Negative Testing & Boundary Value Testing with an example each.
Thanks in Advance
Re: Positive , Negative & Boundary Value Testing
Imagine that we are testing a simple text box that is required to accept a person's age.
Enter a valid value, such as 25
Enter a value that should force an error, such as 90000, or ABC. Make sure the error is handled correctly.
Enter values around the valid boundary. For example, the correct values for age would probably be positive integers between 0 and 999. So, you would test -1, 0, 1, 998, 999, 1000, etc..
For an alphanumeric field, you would test the number of characters. For example, if a comment field is set to hold 100 characters, you would test with values of 0, 1, 99, 100, and 101 characters.
Hope that helps,
