******* enquiry - Test Agents??
User Simon P Garnett (email@example.com) posted:
Is there anyway that you can run robot scripts on a PC without having Robot installed? Is this what they call a test agent?
Can you buy something from Rational that will do this (sort of a remote or cut down license) or can you create a mini-executable program that will run the scripts and log the results - or is it just Robot that does this.
thanks in advance.
Re: ******* enquiry - Test Agents??
Agents allow you to run test scripts on a remote machine, but they still need to be controlled from the master machine (i.e. a machine with TestManager on it).
Running a script on a single test agent consumes a single virtual tester license. You should have a single VT license included in your product license.
Agents can be regarded as a cut down version of Robot, except that they can't run standalone (i.e. cannot run without a connection to a master machine) and the install is still massive.
As far as I'm aware, there's no way to make Robot scripts into standalone executables since I would have thought this would seriously endanger their licensing.
Hope that's useful.
