    SQL Anywhere test datastore

    User Kerr, James (Kerr@lsec.lete.dnd.ca.nospam) posted:

    I've just converted my Access test datastore to SQL Anywhere. I have a
    small VB program that, among other things, inserts records into the
    'Case_Inputs' table. This program worked fine with Access, but having
    difficulty now with SQL Anywhere. The program has no problem reading from
    an SQL Anywhere table. But when attempting an SQL INSERT statement, I get
    an 'authentication failure' message. I'm sure that I've got the correct UID
    and PWD.

    CASEobjConn.Open "ODBC; Driver=Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.0 (Rational);" & _
    "DefaultDir=c:\;" & _
    "Dbf=strProjectPath & CASE_DB_NAME;" & _
    "Uid=TMSUSER;" & _
    "Pwd=TMS;" & _
    "Dsn=RATL_RT_TestManagementDatastore;"

    strSQL = "INSERT INTO TMS.Build " _
    & "(UID, Name) " _
    & "VALUES('999','James')"

    CASEobjConn.Execute strSQL

    Can someone please show me how to INSERT records into a SQL Anywhere table,
    especially a Rational test datastore table (tds.db).

    Thanks
    Deva

    I gave up on using SQLAnywhere for Robot long ago, but there are others on
    this group that use it. As I recall, they rigged it to only allow
    read-only access for all users except Robot. If the database allows your
    user account to view user info, you may be able to confirm/deny my
    assertion.
