SQA Robot book - who\'s buying?

    User Shawn Brezny (shawn.brezny@mckesson.com.nospam) posted:

I know that the SQA Robot book idea has been thrown around in past
discussions here but I am curious to see what market exist for this type of
book. I know I would be interested in buying a copy or two for my group if
it existed. I would also like to help co-author it if the help was needed.

    What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Why not start with a website. A book is a huge undertaking. A couple of
articles and tutorials that are reviewed by a group of experienced users
    would be much easier.

    Shawn,

Myself and John Crunk will be working on a book, and you could contribute to
    it if you wished.

    Shawn

Bruce Posey and I have a new book coming out in June 2002. It is titled
"Just Enough Test Automation" I am in contact with our editor to get
permission to release an advanced copy of the back cover description to this
news group. The book covers several aspects of test automation, all from the
perspective of the test engineer. This definitely not management book about
test automation although it has some operational management aspects. We
definitely do not introduce anecdotal life cycle models of test automation.

What we do cover is Archer Group's Control Synchronized Data Driven Testing
(CSDDT) framework, and include descriptions of related frameworks, Carl
Nagle's Data Driven Engine (DDE) and Keith Zambelich's Test Plan Driven
    testing.

There will be a web site hosted for the life of the book by Prentice Hall
where readers will find all of the CSDDT and DDE software templates and
utilities for Rational. The website will also contain documentation for
Zambelich's Toolkit for WinRunner for Mercury users.

As soon as I have a good description from PTR, I will post it to this group.
Look for it on the market in early June.

I think our team would be down for a couple of copies as well.

How much do you focus on coding and data driven formats? The reason why I
ask is because a majority of the books out, as we all know, skip this and it
is important stuff. Especially for the newbies on the team that would like
to try their hand at AT.
