In the Web based application under Test, the grid is made up of text boxes. X axis is denoted by a attribute (say Size) of the product and Y axis by another attribute (Say fineness).
In Rational terminology there is context Id for each text box. This Id varies depending on the product, X axis attribute and Y-axis attribute.
a product can have upto 10 X axis attributes and upto 10 Y axis attributes. So there will be a max of 100 text boxes. The Ids would look like
I need suggestions on how best to store the values in Datapool or Excel sheet, so that Rational can read from the datapool and input the values.
One more thing that is to be considered is that in the page there are other controls like Edit boxes,Radiobuttons, images and Pushbuttons. It will be good if values for these too are stored in the same datapool.
Re: Psuedo Grid
You don't have to use just one datapool you can create them as required.
If you are bent on using datapools you simply open up Test Manager and create a new datapool or create a csv file (absolutely no formats) with the data you want to use, as many rows as you wish when you want to input values from a row simply use the sqadatapoolfetch function and then use the sqadatapoolvalue specifying the column you wish to input one by one in a loop if you need to. When you want to go to the next row you must again do a sqadatapoolfetch.
The on-line help and the archives are also places you can find information now that you know the basics.
