Has anyone tryed to use Robot 2002 with terminal services. I am familiar with Robot and have been using it but need to find out if it works with terminal services. If someone has used this could you please help me with setting it up.
Re: Terminal Services
Ok I called rational and just in case some one wants to know here is some information.
In a CitrixTM or MTS environment, Rational will support the installation of
Rational Robot or TeamTest on the application server. Once installed, Robot
will allow record/playback of GUI scripts in the CitrixTM/MTS environment.
After installation, the tester(s) will sit at the client and run Robot from
the server (just as the application under test is run). Multiple users can
record/playback concurrently from different workstations attached to the
Citrix /MTS server. Robot GUI script record/playback will be fully
operational. The recorded script will have object oriented script commands
as normal. (Note that if Robot was installed on the client, the script
commands would all be generic clicks with screen coordinates only.) As with
any other environment, be sure that you have run the appropriate IDE
The results of the script(s) execution will write to the test datastore and
display in the Test Log. In this environment, the Test Log Viewer edition
of TestManager is used to display the results of the test script. From the
test log you are able to submit a defect to ClearQuest.
What are the Limitations of Rational Support?
* The Citrix MetaFrameTM or MTS application server must be
running a supported Windows OS.
* You cannot install Rational tools on the client and get
correct operation. The tools must be installed on the CitrixTM or MTS
* The customer MUST have floating licenses of the Rational
* This support extends to Robot ONLY. That means you can
record GUI scripts, group them together using a Shell script, then execute
the scripts from Robot. Results will be stored in the project and displayed
through the TestLog Viewer. Because CitrixTM \MTS support does not extend
to TestManager, you cannot start TestManager when it is installed in on the
server. This means you cannot use suites or test cases to execute GUI
scripts. Therefore, results available after the test execution will be
limited to the detailed test log results. No test case results will be
available for reports.
* Record/playback of other types of scripts, such as VU or
Manual, are not supported.
* Distributed functional testing is not supported since this
requires the use of TestManager to execute the suite.
* Robot does not support execution of multiple Robot sessions
from a single client PC.
* As in other environments, you cannot have two users at two
different clients executing the same script simultaneously and writing to
the same log. For concurrent playback of one script each script MUST be
writing to a different log.
* Support of any other Rational tool such as (such as
ClearQuest, Purify, PureCoverage, Requisite-Pro, etc.), is at the discretion
of the appropriate business unit.
* TestStudio is not recommended since there are many use cases
in this product set that are not supported.
