Question for someone using test agents

    User MArk B. (mkbutler@russellmellon.com.nospam) posted:

In version 2001+, I'm wondering if the test execution and coverage reports
work when some of the logs were created by Robot and some were created by
    running agents through TestManager?

Also, could you also explain to me how the logging of test GUI script
execution is done when running agents through TestManager? Does each agent
create its own log file or does it all go into one log? If it all goes into
one log then how do you separate out the results for individual scripts/test
machines for reporting? Can you separate it out? Are there filters so you
can see only one machines results? Are there other filters? Is there
anything else I should know about how it differs from logging when running
    scripts only when in Robot?

    Thanks,

    MArk B.

    Mark,

I've never used the Agents for GUI tests, but for VU's it shows all the
results in one log file. I haven't seen any filters to show these results
in individual log files per agent. As for the reports, there are filters so
that you can filter per user, per computer, per group etc. I presume these
options would also be available to you in GUI Script reporting. Select the
suite and change the Edit Runtime and Edit Settings settings for that
    suite.
Just on a side note, if you're using win2k, all the log files, scripts,
dll's, etc etc used for your script are compiled and run from the temp
folder in your documents and settings folder on the agent machine. eg.
    \\[computername]\c drive\Documents and Settings\markb\Local
    Settings\TEMP\rtagent_0\
You can choose for all these files, or components thereof to be deleted
after each execution of a script. I think that you should try not deleting
the individual log file on your agent computer, and that you may be able to
try and open that in Test Manager. This may show you an individual log for
that machine? I don't know, never tried it. I've taken your approach, do
your own logging :P Hope this may bring you closer to a solution?

Oh, and those suite settings tabs I was talking about are where you set up
the suite and tell it not to delete files on the agent etc, not where you
set up the reports of course :P but you knew that. The filters for the
reports can be found for each report when you try and create one in the
analysis tab in the test asset workspace, or I guess through reports/new on
the file menu. I'm using 2001A.4 update 2 however.
