Re: Rookie Having Problems with Combo Box

    User MArk B. (mkbutler@russellmellon.com.nospam) posted:

    One other thing.
Working a combobox is a two step process. Open it and then select the item.
In debug mode focus moves back to robot between lines of code. When this
happens the focus has left the combo box and it closes. You either have to
open up the combo box manually or put the cursor past the two steps and then
    hit the F6 key

I had a similar problem once. No matter what I tried I couldn't get the
combo box to do what I needed. In the end I found a way to navigate it
with the keyboard and recorded it that way.

    Good luck,
    Dave

Depending on your development software... some times I have to click so that
my combobox drops down, then I have to use the up or down arrow to reach my
selection....other times, I can type the word in an InputKeys statement or
the first letter...other times (still), I have to type the first letter
twice in and InputKeys statement (since there is more than one word with the
first letter and apparently it is not accepting the full word). You really
have to experiment with all the ways you can get the combo box to work.

Rookie Having Problems with Combo Box

    User Carl Nagle (Carl.Nagle@sas.com.nospam) posted:

    Ahhhhhhh, comboboxes....my favorite.

You need to look at the logs to see if it tells you why you are not getting past this. See if you can view the Properties of the log entry that fails (if the failure gets logged before it gets hosed).

But be warned. Robot and Comboboxes have this longstanding feud going....

Like I said you will have to play with your own application, BUT decide
whether you are testing function or data...if you are testing function, then
you should have standard data and your own test database so that you are
always inputing the same data and know the expected results...then you are
    testing function rather than data.

Hello everybody! I wanted to thank you all for your advice and also let
you know how I got around my problem. I had the programmer on the project
add shortcut keys so I could activate the combo box that way. This works
much more smoothly on playback than clicking on the combo box for
    activation.

    Thanks Again,
    Crystal
