Re: Question about reading records
User Alan Reid (email@example.com) posted:
You could try this approach.
The following will read 6 variables from each line of a comma separated
file. Read in but do not use the variables that you don't want to use.
InputFile = "C:\temp\Comm010802.csv"
Open InputFile for Input As #1
Do Until EOF(1)
Input #1, EmplID, EmplName, Career, CareerNbr, AcadProg, Status1
......... rest of script ........

Question about reading records
User Carl Nagle (Carl.Nagle@sas.com) posted:
What you want to do is use some version of GetField$ with the entire input record.
Do While Not Eof(1)
var2 = GetField$(palletrec, 2, ",")
var3 = GetField$(palletrec, 3, ",")
var5 = GetField$(palletrec, 5, ",")
GetField is a bast**d of a function that can crash Robot if you don't make sure your parameters are valid (no empty strings!!). There are StringUtilities on both RationalUsers and RobotDDEUsers that provide safer wrappers or implementations of the GetField function if you are so inclined.
