I just posted a message since I am having trouble using the Test Manager for Suites. I cant get it to pull data from the data pool when I use the Test Manager Suite function. When I use the Robot, it works fine.
User Jane McGloin (Jane.McGloin@invetech.com.au) posted:
We are currently building a lot of the underlying scripts in Robot with the
intention to use the full suite and have the testers designing and running
the test scripts from Test Manager. We haven't got that far yet though so I
can't tell you how well it goes. I'll post some feedback at that time.
Also on the versioning issue we are supposed to be using ClearCase, but they
are having trouble due to the depth of the directories we have in Robot
(ClearCase can only go so deep) and the fact that robot wants to put files
in certain directories. We are trying a move today to get this working. I
will let you know how it goes.
I've only started working with 2001A lately (used to working with 6/7x), and
the 'new' TesterManager seems to be overfull with gimmicks and superfluous
functionality. All I want to do is test the AUT and externally report back
results. When I run a Test Suite from TestManager I feel like I'm in a space
ship. I mean, I'm keen on RUP and the Rational suite, but I think they
should try to keep things simple and to the point.
For example, it is taking me much longer to enter the steps and VP's in
TestManager's Design Editor than it is to actually write the script.
