Re: Starting the upgrade process - offline

    User Tim Gerrells (tim@intellocity.com) posted:

What they may be referring to is part of the invoice which lists a
particular company code and identifier, which you must use when requesting
the node locked license. I found in a previous company that this particular
step was troublesome, since the database Rational maintained hadn't been
cleanly merged with an OEM reseller's, from whom we actually purchased out
original license of 6.0. Took three months, a dozen phone calls and some
hair pulling before getting the 'correct' company code. Once we got it, the
license entry and receipt via email process went quite smoothly. Changing
licenses as we turned one in when swapping to a different machine, although
a bit inconvenient, worked equally smoothly.

Good luck. It's that first step that's a doozy!

How about making an image of the machine just before you install? If it all
goes sideways then you could restore the image.

BTW: Is the "Project" on a network drive or local? If not on the network
drive, is it getting backed up? (Is it getting backed up if it's on the
    network drive?)

Starting the upgrade process - offline

    User Nancy Seitz (NancyS@tmtsoftware.com) posted:

Is there anyone in the group who has recently SUCCESSFULLY upgraded from
    Robot 6.00 to 2001 using a single machine node-locked license? I have
received a packet from Rational with online documentation for the process
that describes a certificate which we never got. I have sent emails to
Rational in the past and received little or no response after waiting
several days. From comments in this forum this pattern does not surprise
me, however I am going to need help along the way. If Rational won't respond
I am going to be stuck with a half-installed product on the only test
machine our company is licensed to use, and no way to recoup except ghost
that machine back to its Robot 6.00 state. I'm wondering how you got
through it. Any advice before I start? Rather than plague the entire forum
with my angst is there a rational user meeting this description who would
communicate with me via email offline? Thanks for your help.

I can give you some advice as to the certifiecate, not the actual
upgrade. The certificate that they are talking about is the license
file that you import using their license utility. It usually comes
attached to an e-mail. If you already have 2001 installed, and you are
accessing your e-mail on the same machine, all you have to do is open
the attachment or save it and double click it.

    Good Luck,
    Mike

    Hi,

I will try and help out. As an aside, who in support were you in contact
    with?

I assume you purchased TeamTest v2001.

The upgrade process requires two steps. 6.0 -> v2000 and then v2000 to
    v2001.

It is my understanding that the sofware to perform the 6.0 -> v2000 upgrade
is on the CD and does not require a separate license. Have you installed
    this software?

    Adam
