I am testing a windows application(done in C++). We got a new build of the app and I noticed that robot is failing at a comboedit box. With a lil investigation I found that the ComboEditbox was earlier identified by its label, but now it is being identified by Object Index.
I got with the developers to see if they have changed anythin, but they said No.
Re: Robot not recognizing an object in the new build
All of my scripts use the indexes and it is a pain when the developers change something behind the scenes that does not impact the screen presentation. Needless to say, I have many failed VPs due to this.
The devs can't be bothered with adding an identifier because it does not benefit them(uh-huh) and a new naming convention and list has to be maintained.
Did you or anyone change properties in the way your Robot executes? If you try to test re-recording the object, if it records the "Index=.." I think a property/setting was changed.
I'm running Rational Robot 184.108.40.2061 (1991 - 1999) pre IBM, so I don't know where your settings may be, but mine are under Tools--> then either General Options, or GUI Playback Options, or GUI Record Options.
Do whatever you can to get any identifier other than the dreaded "Index=..".
