I work with a client and have introduced OpenSTA for performance testing a Java/Oracle web application which is going really well.
They have another project and that other project team are about to spend money on Rational Performance Tester (I suspect they're buying it because they use rational functional tester).
I'm not familiar with RPT but this thread makes me think they'll be wasting their money.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether it's worth the cost for RPT compared with OpenSTA?
My view (as with most tools) is that I'd rather pay for a skilled person and a free tool, than an expensive tool and an unskilled person. (but maybe as a consultant, I'm biased )
Many thanks, Steve
