Stress Test with Perf. Studio
I'm new with Performance Studio. My boss wants me to test web application with 25 VU.
Could anyone give me a headstart how I can start and what configuration I need to perform in order to do it?
When Im trying to start recording, I've got the pop-up window with 'Write executable file to start'. Where can I write a URL address of my application?
Please, help me!!!!!!!!!
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Stress Test with Perf. Studio
When you click on record you'll see a window which asks you for your executable.
Fill in the full path of your browser.
C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\IEXPLORE.EXE
Then for working directory fill in c:\temp or any other dir.
Then for Program arguments fill in your url.
I would also strongly suggest to attend a course, read your manual, create a performance test plan ,play with the tool a bit.
For 25 VU you can run on your master station provided you have at least 75-100 MB RAM free. Typically a 256 MB pentium III 500+ MHz machine will do fine. You can also choose to run an agent machine.
Performance/Load testing can be quite complicated because you are now dealing with a different dimension of the system (more technical). Key is to have as much info on what you want to achieve upfront. Are you looking to see if the web site can deal with 25 users? How busy are these users? What are they doing? What should be their response times? What do you expect your servers to do? WHo is monitoring the server usage? Who helps you evaluate the results? etc. etc.
I hope this helps a bit in structuring your activity.
