Unifying Objects in the map
I have an application with several scripts and each has it's own private object map. We are in the process of merging all the private into a shared map and then unifying the similar objects. For instance, a "Search" button..usually the Map ID under the Administrative Tab is similar in value (off by a character or two), but we have come across some which are totally different and are cautious about unifying these. They are the same button, but we are not sure about unifying these, does anyone have experience with unifying objects with different Map ID's and if so, anything to be cautious about...any info is appreciated.
Re: Unifying Objects in the map
Map ID uniquely identifies object in object map (.rftmap file). If you absolutely sure objects are similar (hierarchy, class, etc) you may merge them. During merge RFT updates .rftdef file of affected scripts with id of the unified object.
Sometimes RFT "forgets" to update .rftdef of the script. In this case you'll have to update objects in the script manually.
If you are working in the team update repository immediatly after merge.
