Testing Menu Items with Datapool
I am using Funtional Tester from Rational. I am looking for a little direction on an issue I am having. I have an application and there are 11 different users who have access to log in. Each of these users have a menu, which can have 1-3 items present from a possibility of 5. I am wanting to use my current datapool, which only has the users and passwords to test the present of menu items and if present to click on them. Is this a case where I should use Switch and Case from Java and if so, what is the basic setup I need in my data pool or any other recommendations to test this.
Re: Testing Menu Items with Datapool
If the users are always going to have the same rights, eg user1 is always an admin, user2 is an inquiry user, etc then yes it would possibly be the simplest way, so the logic would be if user1 then perform these actions...
You could add another field into your DP to detwermin the type of user, and prior to any testing of menu options, perform VPs for the 1 - 3 menu items.
