I would like to know how to deploy RFT scripts in a remote machine. For instance, I have a RFT Project which has automation scripts for 30 different applications.
I will need to distribute the respective automation scripts to each of the testing team members. I do not want to hand over the entire project to everybody as it can be misused and will be tough to maintain.
Is there anyway that the RFT projects are held in a centralized place & the respective RFT Automation scripts run on a remote machine?
I am not sure if the Remote machine will need RFT installed in it?
Could somebody kindly help or point me in the right direction to achieve my query as I am not sure if this is already been discussed here before?
Are you looking for any version controlling system like Clear case or CSV?? You can execute scripts on remote machine as we are already executing on remote machine for that you have to install RFT on remote machine.
There is no version controlling. All I need to do is to handover the respective scripts to the corresponding testers and ask them to execute
For Instance : I have 20 Automated Scripts. I will have to give the 1st 10 Scripts to tester A, the 2nd lot of 5 scripts to tester B & the final lot to tester C. I also do not want them to look at the source of the script as they can misuse it.
You can do one thing...You can export your project as a Jar file with all required testsuites and datapool objects etc.And in your project Make one script which calls the Automation scripts in the Jar file with the names of the scripts passed as arguments.
Give this Jar file to your team where they want to execute the automation scripts. On remote machine in RFT ask your guys to create a new functional test project and add this jar file to its Project build path or to the RFT customization folder. And create a automation script which creates an instance of the scripts calling script and pass the scripts to be executed as the arguments to that script.
I don't know exactly whether it is going to work or not.Lets try it once..Hope it may help you!!!!
