We have our own Automation framework in which, a Master Script drives all the other tests based on the spreadsheet data. Now we are moving from Rational Functional Tester to QTP.RFT is a beauty in its own terms now when I am trying to mimic the same architecture that we used there in QTP, it is not working.
The problem is every time a new action is to be called, I had to go to "Insert Existing Action" to make this work, is there an option where i can do this programatically in Expert view itself? instead of doing it through the QTP menu?
Shared Actions are a heavyweight solution in QTP. The lightweight equivalent is shared Functions in a library file. Both have pluses and minuses. Search the forum for many discussions and comparisons on this matter

HP is not the problem.
This crap with proprietary Actions goes back to early Mercury days when they first bought Tulip, which morphed into QTP. But in their defense the market was demanding a silver bullet wherein test automation could be "done" by testers that "have no programming background". Wala! Keyword View "creation" of automated test scripts by "guys who work on the loading dock" could be done with point and click, without a programmer in sight.
And thus began the totally bogus era of Keyword View construction of test scripts with Business Component Actions. What a croc.
