i was just witting down a Script for one of the newbie and saw a very weird behavior of QTP 9.0 for adding recovery scenario.
in trigger Step i have clicked to Hand Icon to Identify the name of the window.
but here after clicking on Hand icon it is minimizing my application page and restore QTP screen, i have tried everything to keep my application on the top, by closing all other windows OR even Clicked Hand Icon without minimizing application window to keep my application maximized in the background
now here everything gets stucks
we cant even switch to our application page using keybord as well as mouse, so i cant click on the error message at all and its made me helpless
Is there anyone have see this kind of weird behaviors and please provide solution
Read the chapter on Object spy in QTP help file and there is a very basic thing you are missing here. I can tell you here itself but i think it would be better for you learn it out from the help itself.
yes i got it, really very basic thing. Actually i have never used QTP help for very basic things, and i was having a perception that Object Spy is only used to identify the object property and not to be used as a test functionality
So that i was underestimating the relativeness of spying with the other functionality, it has also been used while adding objects in OR as well in recovery scenario.
But if we will Search help for adding Recovery scenario we wont find any references to Object Spy there, and even there they are not telling it "Object Spy" they are termed it there as "HAND ICON". (9.0 doc)
-> You can hold the left Ctrl key to change the window focus.
Conclusion: Search in QTP Help first then SQAforums some googling (for some common external reference) and then create a thread
I also read the help now after seeing this thread and really those things I never observed. Once I was wishing to spy on Menu but ignored it because of this problems and now I am able to spy on Menu also.
