I joined this forum today, I installed QTP 9.5 in our office.
I just know the basics of QTP. I tried to install on 2003 server and it din't work
Finally i had to install on Win Nt and it installed without any problem
The envirement is
OS :Win NT
Db racle client 10.2
My question is :
1. Should I also install the oracle addins which comes with the qtp installation package ?
2. I have problems in connecting it to a database.
It sometimes says nls error, and then dsn name and so on.
Is it mandatory for me to have the admin rights for installing
and should i also change the registry setting before installation, which i din't do.
Is the the reason why am having problems ?
Also would like to know when connecting to db with output value -> database value,
what is this connection string ?
Iam so upset with this. Would appreciate if someone could reply to my questions.

If the goal is to work on Oracle Forms or some such thing, then I believe that the Oracle add-in becomes a bigger concern. If the goal is database connectivity, then, I'm guessing that the Oracle add-in is not required...you're not interacting with Oracle objects, you're interacting with a database.
Further, if you're having issues with connecting to a database, then you should take two preliminary steps.
1. Can you connect to the database outside of QTP? If you can't, then I think you're going to have issues with trying to connect to the database within QTP.
2. Spend a little time with the documentation that comes with QTP regarding database connectivity.
