I have some serious problems adding Excel files to QTP script. I do not what has changed int he data table that is causing this but whenever I am trying to add the file I get an error prompting:
"the file you specified is not valid for use with datatable"
. I have tried various things but none of them helped. The thing now is that I cannot run the script because of this problem.
The file consists of 300 rows only and around 20 columns.
Does anyone have any idea what can cause this??
I opened the Excel on Excel 2003 application. Apparently it looks OK, not all columns are of the same format, some of them are text, some date, some number and some General.
I tried deleting the entire content besides the headers and QTP was fine with that. When I placed the file's content back in the file QTP failed again to add the excel file.
Does QTP have problems with certain content of cells??
Perhaps size/length of cell's content..?
I recommend narrowing the amount of data you're trying to troubleshoot. maybe remove one column at a time until it works... then you know which column of data is causing the issue. From there, it should be easier to figure out what's wrong with it.
Just realized what you said in your last post. It's almost certainly a formatting issue if you can create a new spreadsheet with the same data and it works. You might be better off just deleting the original file and renaming the copy.
