Adding Objects to the OR on the fly

Is it possible to add a new object to the OR on the fly within our code? If yes, is there a sample that I can check it out? I have tried to search for similar threads but no luck.

Re: Adding Objects to the OR on the fly

You can use QTP Object repository Automation to add object to OR but making it on the fly would mean you need to get the object information on the fly which is not easy because QTP does not provide a way of doing that.

Re: Adding Objects to the OR on the fly

Hmmmm, here is what the problem that I'm facing: the app I am testing create a custom workflow and that is a new object in the OR so on my excel sheet, I specify a workflow name for the app to create, but then I need to add this workflow name to the OR or else the app will not select it. Therefore, I need to create the workflow and add it to the OR and then execute the rest of my code and excel sheet. Based on Tarun's reply above, I don't think this is an easy task.

You can create objects on fly and use it for execution with the help of descriptive programming. Look at Traun's KnowledgeInbox.

Re: Adding Objects to the OR on the fly

    How about:

    a) Descriptive programming, using the variable from th excel spreadsheet

    b) Create a generic workflow object in the OR, then use SetTOProperty to update the object with the variable. Remember though, SetTOProperty doesn't work if you step through the code
