I've installed QTP 9.2 on three machines in our test lab and most of the time I launch QTP, it reboots my the PC. But this does not happen if I launch QTP thru QC (Quality Center). However, when I remotely access the PC via windows remote desktop to run my test directly from QTP, I can successfully launch it with no problem.
I've called our tech guy to see what's going on be could not figure it out.
Has any experience this before and what might be the solution?
Have you tried upping the RAM in one of those machines to see if that alleviates the problem? That seems like an awful slim amount of memory to run XP and QTP (not to mention whatever app you're testing)
A good rule of thumb is to never measure with your thumb.
There are some intel motherboards on which QTP causes a reboot some times. As per HP the problem is caused because of some issues with the graphics drivers. Look at HP KBA and see if your machines have the same intel chipsets.
Check the screen resolution to be 1024 X 768 and color quality to 32 bit.
I had the same problem some time back and when i changed the settings to above values, i could overcome the restarting problem.
