I think this was once discussed but I can't find it with several different Advanced Search criteria. Anway:
I am using QTP 9.2
I have inserted a call to an external shared Action using an absolute path. After the call has been inserted in the calling test you can then select the called Action and view its properties on the Action Properties dialog. On the General tab it lists:
Name: WithStartup [hcRegister]
Both of these fields are greyed out. So it is not possible to changed the root portion of the above location path to say C:\dir\...
Is there a way to edit this path, or must I delete and then reinsert a call to the Action where the "sandbox" versions resides on my desktop PC?
QTP 8.2 use to come with external action call modifier. I have not checked if this same utility comes with QTP 9.x or not. But you can take a look. Else a bad work around would be to changed the old path in actual and that way QTP will report missing action and allow you to change the path.
I prefer using the QTP missing Action tab to change the action path than the External Action Call modifier, because if you have multiple actions mapped in a singel path then they can be done with one change.
But are you not defining the folder path in the tools/options/folder before inserting a call to your action..??

This was not an issue for me when I used a complete path relative design, where all of the search paths were defined in the Tools >> Options >> Folder. But the client wanted this removed and fully qualified paths used throughout, as that is what they currently do with all of their existing legacy tests.
Could not persuade so I conformed. Hence this question.
