Hi does anyone if QTP can be used to compare two CSV files ?
Convert CSVs into Excels and then compare Excels with the code in this
why on earth would you want to use QTP for that?
(unless this is somehow built into some test framework you have)
ya was looking at the optoins for doing it.. currently writing a perl script for it i thought QTP can do it as well .. looks like QTP cannot handle it.
There is nothing like QTP cannot handle it.
You are be causing overhead by using QTP to do this for you, when you can do that with vbs using COM.
So unless this comes in between the execution of your framework it makes no sense to use QTP to run this.
You can very well use a simple notpad for this....
Look the code that TReddy has posted in his link...

why not use a diff tool? that is exactly what they are for. Check out Winmerge
Is it possible to integrate(with API) Winmerge with QTP?
If yes, How?
Winmerge is a Window program, so I am not sure if has an API to use from outside the GUI.
If you want to just validate that the files are identical (without pointing out where the differences are.. you could do that in about 10 lines of code in your favorite scripting language.
Thanks for the quick update.
