This is a an application developed in C++.As I mentione earlier these objects are identified by QTP as WinObjects.Eg Normal textfields are identified as WinObject. So mapped it to WinEdit. But as`long as QTP is not capturing any properties to uniquely identify the object mapping is not solving the solution. In obj repository the name of the object is same as it's class name.Looks like it's not able to capture the name of the object or any other property. If itwas the bat file causing this issue all objects will have the problem. But that's not the case here. But even for objects that are identified obj names are not captured and hence cannot uniquely identify the object.
Not sure if this will help but I found this a while back... not sure if it came from this forum or not..... Unfortunately i've had to save the spreadsheet as a text file (tab delimited) so hope fully you might be able to view it in excel
So that means all the objects belonging to same class will have the same name in the obj repository. And in a case where there are multiple objects of the same class in the same window QTP is not able to identify them uniquely. eg:WinEdit ->Name in obj repository is RichEdit20A which is it's native class.Since QTP is capturing the nativeclass itself as the name all WinEdits will be identical and on trying to input data to these text fields all the inputs will be entered into the same textfield wherever the focus is set to currently.
Did you try doing that on a WordPad? I trie and mine worked. It first recognizes the editor as a WinObject. Then i went in to Tools->Object Indetification...->User Defined...->Navigate the class through hand pointer, map it to a multiple line editor and click Add (i always forget to click add and i click OK instead, so make sure you are not making that mistake). Once add click on OK and try again and now it is being recognized as a WinEditor.
Thanks Tarun for the suggestion.
Unfortunately that's not happening in this case. The user defined object is showing up in the Object Identification window and QTP is recognizing it as WinEdit. The problem here is it's not capturing any properties(attched text in case of WinEdit). So i am not able to talk to that object. Is there any other property that can be used to uniquely identify the object.
