    QTP Test Parameter question

    I am exploring using test parameters to pass data into my test from automation scripts. I am trying to figure out how to access the parameter values.

    This has got to be very simple... I have read through the QTP help files for the last 45 minutes with no luck.

    I created a test parameter called "MyName" and in my action I am trying to reference it's value like so.

    var2 = Parameter.Item("MyName")

    but I get an error that the parameter is not found.

    Maybe I just don't understand how test parameters work but I also created an environment variable and was able to access it with var_Value = Environment.Value("foobar")

    internally what is the difference between and environment variable and a test parameter?

    Should I be using evironment variables to pass data into my test rather than test parameters?

    Can you try

    var2 = Parameter("MyName")

    See if it's working

    Re: QTP Test Parameter question

    Thanks Turan for pointing that out....

    I even commented on that thread. That was back in the day when I was trying to figure out passing parameters to other actions. I do not use actions anymore so I guess test parameters are pointless now...

    Look in QTP help for exact syntax.

    Vishul, some of these one-liners you keep posting are of no use to the threads they are in. Please refrain from making pointless comments, they can actually confuse newbies in some cases.
