    Property change

    Hi,

In a web application I'm checking a dialog box. On one system QTP is able to identify that and in other system it is not. My code fails at a line which is like:
    Browser("title:=MSN- Microsoft").Dialog("Interent Explorer").Click

In one system the browser has property: title = "MSN-Microsoft". In other system for the same application at the same point of operation the Browser has property containg the URL of that page.
So qtp script is getting failed.

Is there any setting change I've to do to make this run in each system?
    How to address this?

    Regards,
    PRN

You can't use DP in such a way. Read the article on my website to know more about DP.

    Re: Property change

If I'm using Browser("MSN- Microsoft").Dialog("Interent Explorer").Click...it is working fine in one machine.

But for other it is not. there while I'm checking through oject spy browser title is the URL of that page. But if the same I'm checking in the machine where it is working fine the tile shows as MSN- Microsoft

    Re: Property change

So you need to change the Browser properties to recognize the browser properly.

    Re: Property change

    Normally this should not happen.

Try to use Browser properties which are same on both machine. Also verify if its possible to use regular expressions for properties u specify so that it will be use across different machines.

    Re: Property change

By default, browser doesn't have any mandatory properties to identify it, also the smart identification is disabled.
By adding some properties as mandatory for the browser identification you can achieve your objective.

    Hope this is helpful..

    Re: Property change

Thanks a lot for all the response.

Actually the issue is I'm calling the same a function in which the problemtic line of code is.
I'm calling the same function in different places in different scripts. So changing this may affect other places too.

I thought there may be some settings in IE/QTP itself for this type of behaviour but so far not able to get any.

Thanks again for all the inputs I got.

    Regards,
    PRN
