Trouble with SAP dynamic object names

I am testing an SAP app where I recorded a test, then the playback failed because of a changing frame name. I tried following another thread and I changed the object name to a Regular expression and inserted a wildcard (*) for the part of the name that was changing but it didn't work.

What am I doing wrong or am I not even on the right track?

    Please help!!

    Thanks,

    Jacob

Re: Trouble with SAP dynamic object names

Post 2-3 different names that are coming during different runs, post the regular expression that you are using and then the error details that you are getting when using the regular expression.

    Object Details Result Time

Go To Cannot find the "Go To" object's parent "DC348DA10A19B8F1AF590018FE3430" (class Frame). Verify that parent properties match an object currently displayed in your application.

Examples of different names I'm getting are:

    DC33BD2767F957F1AF590018FE3430
    DC33BD5A149424F1AF590018FE3430
    DC33BD66327681F1AF590018FE3430
    DC33BD725058F6F1AF590018FE3430

The regular expression that I'm trying to use is:

    DC3*F1AF590018FE3430

I've also tried making the whole thing a wildcard but that didn't work either.

    Thanks!!!

Re: Trouble with SAP dynamic object names

Thank you very much Tarun. I have a real newbie question for you now: If QTP is not recording anything when I click Record and start navigating through my program, what is likely to be wrong? This problem just suddenly came about.

New question should be asked in a new thread.
