QTP with different vers of same app (Pinkee92)
Seeing how I went to the bother of answering Pinkee92's question before the thread got locked, I thought that I should at least post it!
The basic gist was that Pinkee92's company produces an application which used in several versions for diiferent clients. Here is my response;
Obviously I haven't seen the various versions of the application, but I'd imagine that a lot of code could be shared.
You would have to design a framework which maximises the ability to use shared functions, subs, actions & scripts.
If the different versions were as simple as a web page being rendered differently, then that would sit with DP great.
e.g In version 1, a button is called "Submit" where as Version 2 it is called "Place order". By simply having different versions of the DP Object Repository for each version, the same script could be used for each version of the application.
Obviously it may be a lot more complex then this so what you need is a consultant to come in and advise an approach and framework. Shame you're in the states else I'd give you my business card!
PS. Pinkee92, you got lucky this time, next time come up with a better subject title, now get on your way, I don't want to have to speak to you again tonight

Its not wise to back-sass the walkin boss (Don't know what a walkin boss is? Rent Cool Hand Luke and check out Carl, the floor walker).
Next time someone like Tarun makes a suggestion, it is best to follow it. Unless of course you don't want answers from most of us on this board--in the case just go about your merry way.
