I am kind of new to this tool and basically to automation. I am trying to test this application developed in .NET and I am using 9.2 trial version. I am just recording and playing it back but getting the following error over and over again. I checked OR - looks good for parent and child object's properties. I have used Object Spy as well as .NET spy as I have .NET add in but nothing works..I am surely missing something..and need help here..
I am just opening a window and selecting a drop down menu to choose a date and that is it.
code is as follows:
SwfWindow(" Console ").SwfObject("SwfObject").Click 214,8
SwfWindow("SwfWindow").SwfObject("SwfObject").Clic k 62,145
SwfWindow("Console ").SwfWindow("Title").SwfObject("date").Click 72,13
Error is as follows
Cannot find the "xyz" object's parent "abc" (class SwfWindow). Verify that parent properties match an object currently displayed in your application.
Thanks for replying. I am new to this application and I am 100% sure about it but it looks like it may have 3rd party or customs controls. When I record and playback, sometimes QTP records controls as swfObject.
If this is the case, how do I take care of the problem? Is there any functionality that QTP will handle custom objects? May I use Virtual Object?
Tried analog recording and it's working okay to some extent. It is closing the window automatically even if I am not closing it by clicking "cancel" button.
Low level recording is not helping me as it is giving me the same error.
Is there anyway I can get a little hint for the right direction? It seems that I am hitting my head against the wall right now
Do you also have wpf objects? Also the .NET is 3.0 or 2.0
If its .net 3.0 and/or WPF, I can email you a new patch provided by mercury. Its called QTPNET92P2252.exe. Post your email. Just .net plugin is not sufficient.
I was also having same problem and every object is recognized as swfobject. But after uninstalling qtp and reinstalling qtp 9.2 and that patch for .net 3.0 / wpf, My problem is solved.
