I just installed QTP 9.2 and "installed all". Prior to this I have been working with QTP 8.2.
I have prowled through the documentation and it mentions in a description of available online guides "QuickTest Advanced References" document, that is suppose to contain advanced info on the following subjects:
But QTP Help does not have a link to that guide, and I can't find it on the install disk. But our shrink-wrapped product box (which was received last year) has a downlevel hard copy (beta 9.0). I also found no hits on this topic with a search of the forum.
Can someone tell me how to install and/or obtain what sounds like a very useful document?
-Thanks, Terry Horwath
Search phrases to find this thread: "advanced ref", "advanced reference", "advanced guide", "advanced feature help", "advanced features help"
When I launch the normal QuickTest Professional Help (from the windows menu or from the Help menu in QTP) I get the usual Help document.
One of the chapters at the bottom of the "Contents" list is "QuickTest Advanced Reference" and it has all the sections you mentioned.
I can also find individual files that match each of those sections by exploring the \Mercury Interactive\QuickTest Professional\Help folder where QTP is installed - the titles of the individual files don't match titles of the chapters exactly, but they're close enough to figure them out.
QTP 9.2 ships with a hard copy set of documents, as well as PDF versions of these documents.
The full user's guide is broken into two hard copy manuals:
1. Mercury QTP 9.0 Basic Features User's Guide (854 pages)
2. Mercury QTP 9.0 Advanced Features User's Guide (452 pages)
But the PDF version of the user's guide, QTUsersGuide.pdf, combines both of these manuals. This can be confusing when you are trying to locate the advanced features stuff when using QTUsersGuide.pdf. Here is a cross reference I find useful:
Hardcopy, Advanced Features, Chapter 1 maps to PDF Users Guide (QTUsersGuide.pdf), Chapter 30.
