Windows XP - Memory Management
Ok, first off, sorry to post this here, but I have a question about how Windows XP recycles memory. I have created a quick test pro object that monitors all processes from the task manager and records there current memory usage when its "Tick" property is called (as well as System Memory available). When running tests on an application, I noticed that with this tool, that even though I have closed files down inside my app, the memory was not returned to the system. Anyway, I made modifications to the script to run this process 50 times (which I estimated the system would be criticaly close to running out of memory). At about 2% system memory remaining, I noticed all process droped down drasticly in memory usage. This would probably be a few hours into the test. Anyone know of any opperating system behaviors that would explain this?
