Setting IE 6.x settings during startup

    Hi,

For automation of Web application using QTP 9.1, i have done some settings in Internet Explorer 6.x like

    a) Check for the newer version of the page at every visit
    b) AutoComplete is turned Off etc.

but if i deliver these scripts for execution on a different machine, all these changes needs to be done before executing the scripts. I want to avoid this manual configuration of IE. So is there any way to set IE settings during startup.

    Thanks

all ie settings are written to the registry ... you can either use wshshell or make use of the RegCreateKey, RegSetValueEx, RegCloseKey, and RegOpenKey windows api functions via QTP.

    Thanks JFry,

I have not worked on windows api. Can you please point me to some resource, where i can get something to read about it and then use it in QTP.

    Thanks

Here is an example of writing registry values for an ODBC connection to SQL server.

Re: Setting IE 6.x settings during startup

Thank you very much. But it all goes above my head. Is there any example where it says set I.E. to visit to the newer page everytime or any other example for IE settings.

I know, i am asking for too much. But this one was too complex for me to understand in one go.

    Thanks

hmm ... this would take me some time (that I currently do have to much of at the moment). Might want to do some googling for wshshell and registry as this might be easier to understand. May even want to to some advanced search on this forum as I am sure that this has been asked before.
