    collection object

    Hi

I am using descriptive programming with qtp 9. I have over 30 scripts which are using like 100 descriptive ojects common in all scripts. Can I use external file(vbs)and call it as common file in all scripts with ExecuteFile?

    Thanks

    Re: collection object

You need to associate it with all the the test case or you need to call ExecuteFile in the associated file.

    Re: collection object

    hi

thanks for your replies. I need to use it in all the scripts. As I am newbie so right now I am using all 100 discription objects in all scripts. so if I can use it as common file and call it in all scripts, my scripts will be much concise.

so mwsrosso, you mean I can make a vbs file and call it with ExecuteFile?

I have some sections in the scripts which I am using in all scripts. So it will work with scripts also? just like login page script etc

    Thanks

    Re: collection object

    Hi Paul,

Try searching on "executefile" in your QTP helpfile. this will introduce you to the vbscript info that you can find there. It's more useful than you'd expect.

    Re: collection object

    hi

I cut and paste all description objects in a text file and made it a function like

    Function myfunction()
    description oject1
    description object 2....and so on
    End Function

and save it as .vbs file. I attached the file at File > Settings > Resources > Associated function liberaries

and called it in the script with ExecuteFile "Description.vbs" (Description.vbs is my vbs file name).

I am getting error "Invalid procedure call or argument". Can anyone please help me in finding where I am making mistakes?

    Thanks
