This is first post in QTP forum.
In the recent future we are going to automate some products built on .Net and the control used in the application are user customized controls (i.e., existing activex/vb controls are derived to create one new control, say "login").
While doing automation using QTP, it does not recognize / identify those type of controls. Please help me if any solutions are there.
If am not able to make you understand what is the customized object, then here is a brief description of the same.
"A control "Login" is created which has four more vb/activex controls (Uname, Password, Login button, Cancel button). In this case my customized control name Login. When I drag and drop this particular object in my form, it gives me a alln object which same as the login screen."
Also, please help me in finding a suitable testing tool for this kind of testing if this is not the one we should use. Waiting for any help or pointer.
you need to use .Net add-in. In QTP 9.0 this addin is in built so you need to buy it. You can go to download section of mercury and download QTP for .Net Evaluation. it will a trial version and you can check it works for you not.
Any version of QTP does not support Customized .Net controls fully. These customized controls are basically infragistics controls.
Along with appropriate .net Add-in, you have to use TestAdvantage patch by Infragistics.
there are various version of TestAdvantage for diff. .Net versions.
first please confirm with developers about the version of .NET and NetAdvantage then go for TestAdvantage.
