Is it possible for these to co-exist? If so, how is it done and are there any best practices for this? (i.e. if it is possible, could you give some scenarios).

I am going through this process in migrating to QTP from WR. I've learned some objects in my Windows application and stored in a shared OR and I also have some code in a function that types in text for different fields in the application:
This is working quite nicely so far, so I hope that this answers your question some what. I think that as long as you have the highlevel/parent object in the shared OR you can use the DP for child objects...but don't quote me on that as I've only being testing QTP for a couple of weeks now.
