Problem in identifying dynamic Web Objects by name
I have an issue with dynamic changes in Web Object name in the application I am working with.
When I am recording the script, QTP is taking a name for the object rendered dynamically in the page. Now, after deploying the next version of the application the QTP scripts are not running as it is unable to identify the object by its name because the objects name is getting changed each time. I have already taken a few properties as Mandatory Properties and few as Assistive. I have also enabled the Smart Identification option and selected the ‘Ordinal Identification’ as Index and recorded the scripts. Still the scripts are not running once a new version is deployed.
I would be glad if someone helps me out to resolve the problem and suggest me in this regards
Thanks in advance.
Re: Problem in identifying dynamic Web Objects by name
Use a property which doesn't change to idnetify the object rather than one with a dynamic value, or use regular expressions.
By the way, I wouldn't use Smart Identification as it can cause all manner of problems.
